Preservation Activities

The Conservancy is steward to Mt. Pleasant’s farmhouse, circa 1692, as well as its eight farm outbuildings, circa 1900. We are also home to Montjoy Barn, thought to be the oldest barn in Howard County. Montjoy was saved from demolition, disassembled and rebuilt on the grounds of the Conservancy.

The Conservancy protects open space and agricultural resources of Howard County through donated conservation easements. Currently the Conservancy holds easements on over 1,700 acres around the county including six historic homes.
